The late summer in Finland i just fantastic in many ways. One of the really great things is that the woods are full of tasty berries. Blueberries are my favorite. So good, so healthy and they grow without any work done by tractors and fossil fuels.
I am unfortunately way faster at eating the berries than I am at picking them. Right now I am in the middle of the city with no opportunity to go to pick berries. Luckily there are a lot of people selling berries at the market-place. The annoying thing is just the damn plastic boxes that a lot of the berries are packed in. Totally unnecessary waste. I have a tip for everyone who wants to buy berries:
Take your own reusable plastic box with you and buy berries from the market vendors who have not packed all their berries! Then when you ate all the berries, go fill the same box again, and again! I think the little things count, the less plastic waste we produce, the better. And bringing your own box is really not a lot of work, it just requires two seconds of extra thought before leaving the house.
